I would like to speak with someone about an event which is important to the United States Power Squadron. I saw the blimp yesterday and thought it would be terrific if we could negotiate a deal to have the blimp fly over Jacksonville at the upcoming USPS National Conference( St Johns River Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront) scheduled for January 19, 2013.

Vero Paddle Group 100 Year Anniversary thinking

Thank you Toby. The Cdr is glad to see the Paddle Group in full swing. You are doing a great job and we like the Paddle Group!

As you have heard we, USPS, will be celebrating the 100 year Anniversary. They are in the middle of searching for ideas to promoting the GREAT Event. I can see 100 kayaks on the river soon. It would be a great stunt and I would like you to see how far you can get with this idea.

Please explore this concept. Get our PRO involved so she can get the Press Journal into it. Talk it up at out FNS and see what happens. I wish you well.

Subject: October Paddle Group Outing

Hey guys,

Our next Paddle Group outing will be Saturday October 27 at 9:00 a.m.   This will allow some members who work an opportunity to participate.  We will leave from MacWilliams Park next to the Power Squadron Building.

Our itinerary will include Bethel Creek, Cache Cay (maybe Harold & Janet Ley will provide champagne when we pass by their house!), various northeast islands and a bring-your-own brunch/lunch at a picnic area on one of the islands that has a dock.

In addition to your lunch , please bring the following:

PFD
Whistle
Baler (empty can or jar will do)
Hat
Water Shoes
Sun screen
Water
Insect repellent
Camera (water proof is best)
Trail mix bar (optional)

The Palm Beach Sail & Power Squadron chartered the Majestic Princess Yacht for 01 December and will participate in the Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade for Toys for Tots. 

The Squadron theme is "Celebrating USPS 100th Anniversary".  An electronic email invitation was sent through the D/8 blast to invite D/8 members, family and friends to participate in the parade.

Vero Beach Christmas Parade

Thanks for coordinating the VBPS entry into the upcoming parade. I understand that it will be happening on 12/1/2012. I hope we can get more than a dozen boats on floats/trailers entered this year. The attached is the entry form that needs to be submitted.

I had a few thoughts that I will share with you.  We VBPS have done this in the past. We have a lot of banners, flags and so on, in the back room that could be displayed on the boats.

One boat in particular that I really appreciate and hope we can get is the African Queen that is owned by Jim Crawfis.

We also have a lot of posters that were created by various kids, which came about from the Boarman poster contest. They are on top of the file cabinet in the education storage room. I would like to use them to decorate a float yet to be created. 

As you may know USPS will celebrate its 100-year Anniversary in 2014 and I would like to propose we make this coming boat parade theme “ United States Power Squadron 100 Years in the Making” – brought to you by the Vero Beach Power Squadron
